Cape May trial run
How could we turn down two free nights in an Airstream only camp at Cape May? Our first trepidation at towing lasted 80 miles south on the New Jersey Garden State Parkway from the Lakewood dealer into the Airstream only drive-thru campsite near Cape May. Heavy thunderstorms were easily ignored as we learnt the ropes! Negotiating highway lanes in construction areas defined by concrete barriers is intimidating! First two nights in our Flying Cloud aka Nuage Volant! Learning all the systems, shorepower, propane, 12 volt supply, furnace heating, heat pump, air conditioning, propane fridge, fresh and waste water separated into gray and black tanks, leveling, thermostatic ventilation, eight gallon max showers... wow! Camping is not what it used to be! Two days later we head south over the Delaware Memorial Bridge then via Rt 301 over the Chesapeake Bay Bridge to Virginia, and eventually to the very narrow Rt 301 Harry Nice bridge over the Potomac River avoiding heavy weekend traffic and rush hours! Home! Excellent reverse into our front driveway! All accomplished without mishap and now on to Airstream interior customization!
