Fort Pulaski on Tybee Island

Designed by a Frenchman! Beautiful moat and grounds, stylish brick architecture, eye catching vistas! Unfortunately technology evolved since the era it was designed and built and the brick fortification were no match for the new Union spiral rifled projectiles which threatened to reach the armory after a 30 hour bombardment from Tybee Island and the Confederate army were obliged to surrendered. Well worth a visit and well maintained by NPS National Monuments.
