Elephant seals on the beach along the Pacific Coastal Highway near San Simeon as far as the eye can see! In April they come ashore to molt and that takes several weeks without food and they lose over half their body weight in the process... they spend the day flipping sand over their bodies, going for a quick swim and returning to loafing on the beach and creating a strong downwind stench!
